Healing Yoga Poses for the Heartbroken – Part III

A guide to ‘body & soul’ mending as well as healing yoga poses beneficial for all those feeling tumultuous within.
Elevated Lunge Twisteroos
- This yoga pose helps in releasing the back, lengthening the upper body and strengthening the lower extremity.
- From the down-faced canine pose stepping the right foot upwards in-between the hands and reaching an elevated lunge stance.
- Inhaling, straightening the arm direct over the head and draw palms together close to the heart in praying pose and exhaling.
- Now move into a twisted pose and placing the outer part of the left arm on the outer side of the right thigh and holding for 5 breaths.
- Returning to center, placing the hands on the outer side of the right foot and stepping the right foot backwards to a down-faced canine pose.
- Repeating on the other side as well.

Conduit Pose (Setu Bandha Sarvangasana)
- It helps in opening the shoulder region and spine. The pose also helps to strengthen the legs and gluteus muscles.
- Lying on the back and bending knees, feet placed around twelve inches away from the gluteus muscles.
- Raising hips and trunk away from the ground forming a straightened line mid-air.
- Now interlacing the hands and pressing the shoulder and upper arm areas on to the ground.
- Lifting the hips to a greater height in the direction of the roof.
- Holding for 5 breaths, lowering the gluteal muscles back to the floor and repeating thrice.

Bowed Pose (Dhanuraasana)
- This yoga pose helps in opening the trunk, enhancing blood circulation and digestive capability.
- Lying on the abdomen, bending the knees and grabbing on to the outer side of the ankle area of both legs.
- Bringing the feet close together and knee placement hip width away. During every inhalation getting additional room in the trunk. Holding for five to ten breaths.

Hip Spherical Moves
- A great move for releasing hip and back.
- Lying on the back and hugging knees to the trunk.
- Holding the left knee using the left hand and the same done on the other side as well.
- Now moving knees in mini spheres and keep them no less than six inches away.
- Doing ten orbs in clockwise direction and ten other in anti-clockwise manner.

Reclined Bonded Inclination Pose
- Also known as sputa Baddha Konasana pose. It helps in opening the soul & heart, abdomen and groin.
- Lying on one’s back with leg and arm areas straightened and palms placed up.
- Bending the right knee and placing right foot on the ground and repeating the same on the other side as well.
- Lowering the knees apart from one another towards the ground and bringing base of foot together.
- Placing one of the hands on the lower abdomen and the other on the heart.
- During inhalations and exhalations utter ‘I pardon and let go ’.
- Set aside five minutes for this relieving and releasing time period.
