The overall health of an individual is greatly dependent on what we consumed. What we eat directly affects the overall health. It is really not clear what we could modify in our diet and what we could avoid to keep good health. There are many ailments that are seen to be totally dependent on the diet of the individual.

Psoriasis is a condition that is closely related to the diet we have. The most beneficial way we could manipulate the diet is in treating psoriasis, involves a diet which is totally gluten free. Gluten is a storage protein and a compound that is found in grasses such as barley, rye and wheat. There are many people who have antibodies to one part of gluten called gliadin. These results in a condition called celiac disease. When people eat bread and other such gluten having foods that get symptoms of gastrointestinal disorder and then break out into a lot of eruptions in the skin. This is called dermatitis herpetiformis.

There are lot of pustules that can be seen in many kinds of psoriasis and the people with this condition are seen to have antigliadin antibodies more than the general population. The data is not available right now but the best improvements are with a gluten free diet. There is a similar condition called palmo planar pustulosis which is also dependent on the diet program of the individual.

There are dietary studies which show that fish oil benefits those who are affected with psoriasis. Also it is seen that the Greenland Eskimos have less psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis. It was then believed that diet is a major role player and gives more of the anti inflammatory omega 3 fish oils. When these Eskimos went to Denmark and took a diet that was inclusive of red meat they started developing psoriasis and arthritis at a higher rate.

Studies show that supplementing fish oil into the patients with psoriasis have not really been successful. Greenland Eskimos seem to be equipped with a kind of advantage that is genetically viable and allows them to make use of the fish oil they consume and thus reduce the onset of diseases caused due to inflammation. Most patients suffering from psoriasis have no benefit in their skin due to use of omega 3 supplements.

Psoriasis patients would best benefit from simple healthy eating and so fresh fruits, vegetables, and also proteins that are obtained from fish and also should consume fibre supplements. They can also have olive oil and avoid red meat and processed foods besides refined carbohydrates. There is a study that has seen that psoriasis is inversely linked with consumption of fresh fruit, tomatoes and carrots.

So patients who suffer from psoriasis should learn to live with the condition and also should learn to alter their diet. So there are certain nutrients that help to manage the disease and these patients should learn to consume this.

So having fruits like grapefruit, grapes, nuts, legumes, raisins, apricots, cereals, plums, cinnamon, oregano and cloves are a must for people with psoriasis. Then these antioxidants would further stop the formation of the leukotriennes which normally worsen the psoriatic condition.

Then there are beta carotenes like carrots, apricots, mangoes, green leafy vegetables which contribute to a healthy skin.

Folate is also an important diet for psoriatic patients so consumption of breakfast cereals, wheat, lentils, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage etc help to maintain the cell division and also helps to keep the skin healthy.

Consuming foods rich in Omega 3 fatty acids like mackerel, sardines, flax sees and sesame seeds are a must and some of the steroidal creams are also advisable.

Psoriasis is also cured by eating zinc rich foods that are found basically in whole grain foods and other such substances.

A psoriasis diet is also supplemented with lot of water which helps the body to get hydrated and thus makes it less prone to skin eruptions. It is best to avoid food like spicy food, tomatoes, dairy products, red and processed meat, and food with too much oil, soda and alcohol.

Smoking is related to growth of pustular psoriatic lesions so best avoided.

Understand that psoriasis is related to the skin and so have diet that would ease the skin eruptions.

Grey hair is a condition that often affects people and they are left wondering exactly why it happens. This is a symptom of absolutely improper synthesis of protein. With the white hair that grows the person begins to feel old and thus grey hair is often a deterrent for the person and he tries ways and means to ensure he is devoid of this problem. Hair becomes white when the pigment melanin ceases to exist in the hair follicles. There are small air spaces in the place where the melanin used to exist.

Pigments cells are found at the base of each follicle of hair and this is what produces the natural colour of the hair and thus makes the person look young. But as a person grows older these pigment cells die and also lose colour. So the result is that they have more of grey hair and less of their original hair colour. The cuticle is the outer layer of the hair and it has flat cells that overlap against each other. Below this is the thick cortex which has the keratin substance. The inner portion of the hair is made of rectangular soft cells. Thus the hair colour is totally determined by the amount of melanin in the cells. So if the person is blond then the melanin content is very less and if the person has black hair the melanin content is more. Melanin is produced by melanocytes which die as a person grows old.

In some we see that the person is young, yet has grey hair. This normally occurs due to heredity and it is only a matter of situational occurrence. Then there are other factors like worry, malnutrition and shock or tension and sorrow which cause the hair to turn white due to lesser secretion of melanin which is affected due to the emotional condition.

It is a myth that pulling out one grey hair would lead to two grey hairs growing instantly. This is because when you pull out one grey hair then another just would have started growing and when the hair is pulled out there is more space for the other two hair to be visible.

If one wants to treat grey hair then one can resort to home remedies like massaging a paste of gooseberry or amla on the scalp which has worked wonders over a period of time with people. It is said to reverse the process of greying or hair fall.

Then it is a good idea to massage hair with coconut oil and lemon for at least some time. People have had black hair even up to the age of sixty by using this process.

Ritha or shikakai seeds are very good for the hair. Soak around 10 to 12 rithas and some shikakai pods in water overnight. Boil it the next day and strain and used this as a shampoo for the hair. Or else soak around 15 amlas in half a cup of water and next morning strain it and use as a conditioner. Leave it for around 15 minutes and then wash hair.

It not only stops hair fall but also prevents greying of hair.

A mixture of castor oil and limejuice should be beaten till it is frothy. Then add henna to it and apply this mixture in the scalp. Wash hair after an hour and use Ritha and shikakai shampoo. This prevents hair greying.

Strong black tea added to salt and strained and then massaged on hair roots and left for an hour is a conditioner for hair. But after this hair should not be shampooed.

Not only should greying be understood but also treated well so that you don’t feel you have grown old at a very young age. Don’t use too much conditioner as this tends to make the hair look greasy. Massaging hair with your fingertips always helps as it circulates blood in the scalp.

These tips will surely help you to overcome the problem, and yet if it persists then learn to wear a smile and use the clitch “Its a sign of wisdom.”

We all know that applying some highlighter on our face can give us an instant glow; however the aftereffect of using these chemical based substances regularly can be quite severe. In this article, we have discussed how one can have a glowing face instantly using natural methods.

Take a pan and fill it with water; add some skin friendly herbs to it and heat the mixture. For people with normal skin, herbs like rosemary and lavender are recommended; if you have oily skin, peppermint or thyme will suit you the best and individuals with sensitive or dry skin should use lime or chamomile.

Once boiled remove the water from the heat and place your face over the pan for taking an herbal steam. Take the steam for 15 minutes; this will open up your skin pores and offer you a deep cleansing experience.

The next step involves skin exfoliation. You can prepare a homemade scrub for skin exfoliation. To prepare the scrub mix together 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon lemon juice and 2 tablespoon almond paste. Apply this mix onto your face and rub it in gentle circular motions. Continue the scrubbing for 2 minutes and then wash off your face using lukewarm water.

Mash a cool cucumber and apply it all over your face. Wait for ten minutes and wash the face using lukewarm water. Dab your face with a clean towel so that it gets completely dry.

The final step involves application of a gentle moisturizer onto the face. While applying the moisturizer massage your facial skin gently for promoting blood circulation.

Once the above steps are completed as directed, you will find your skin glowing. Now, application of minimum makeup will give you a perfect party look.

How much melanin you will have in your skin depends mostly on your genetics. However, the levels of melanin in our skin also get boosted naturally when our skin get exposed to the sun rays i.e. the ultraviolet rays present in it. Sun rays triggers the production of the brown pigment called melanin within our skin, which becomes even darker after being oxidized.

Melanin also acts as the natural defense system of our skin against the harmful ultraviolet rays. However, still there are many who are not fond of dark skin and look for ways to reduce the levels of melanin in their skin. It is possible to reduce skin melanin naturally; however, you must be patient for experiencing the results as the process takes time. Below, we have offered some tips for reducing skin melanin naturally.

If you want to get rid of the melanin of your skin, you must ensure that you remain indoors during daytime, particularly when the sun stays at the peak. Continuing this for several months will result in gradual decrease of the melanin levels of your skin. Depending on the extent of tan one is having, an individual might require a year’s time or even more than that to notice the effects of this remedy on his or her skin.

To decrease your skin melanin levels, you must wear clothes that cover your neck, legs and arms and wear shoes covering your feet while going out in the sun. It is also advisable to wear gloves, hats and sunglasses for protecting the face from UV rays.

Vitamins A, C and E are extremely effective in reducing skin melanin. Vitamin A’s synthetic form, Retin-A is used widely for exfoliating the hyperpigmented dead skin cells and promoting production of new cells. Vitamin C is classified as a tyrosinase inhibitor; as a result of this, topical application of this vitamin decreases production of skin melanin. Vitamin E cannot reduce melanin production directly, but is effective in reducing the hyperpigmentation caused by overproduction of melanin.

The ingredients required for making this natural facial mask are: a large carrot, ½ ripe avocado, 3 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon olive oil (the cold pressed extra-virgin variety), ½ cup of heavy cream, a food processor or blender, a soft towel and a damp cloth.

The first step is washing the face for removing all the dirt hugging the skin and the entire trace of makeup on it. Use a mild cleanser while washing. Pat the face dry and apply a moisturizer onto it. Wait for some time for allowing your skin to absorb the moisturizer. Press a tissue onto your face for removing the excess moisturizer. This will ensure that your face looks glowing, but not greasy. Your face is now ready for receiving the makeup.

Start by applying makeup primer. Apply it all over the face to give it a smooth texture. The shimmer and eyeshadow you choose must be subtle yet eye catching.

Apply any lightweight foundation suiting your skin tone. Your foundation must make your skin glow even further. You can also opt for mineral makeup powders instead of using a foundation. But, stay away from heavy makeup base as that will keep you weighed down and within an hour the freshness of your face will disappear.

Use an undereye concealer in small amount for brightening up the eyes. If you want to make your eyes look brighter, try out the blue eyeliner. However, don’t forget to smidge it up with your eyeshadow. If your eyes are red and tiered, apply eye drops onto your eyes for revitalizing them. It is advisable that you stay away from using mascara; even if you use it never put them on the lower eyelashes.

Keep your lips as light colored as possible; you can use a gloss instead of lip colors. If you choose to use lip colors, make sure the shades you pick are light and very close to your skin tone. Don’t use the dark reds and browns or any other bright shade. Also, avoid using the heavy and waxy lipsticks.

Your makeup is done perfectly; now, you must make sure you maintain the makeup for long hours and look fresh all through the day. The biggest enemy of a fresh face is the unsightly oil secreted from the oil glands of our facial skin. Carry a pack of facial oil blotters with you. If you feel that your face has started to become oily, pat the blotters all over your face so that they can soak up the unwanted oils. This will again freshen up your face.

A hot oil treatment can rid you from your unattractive dry, damaged hair. If you go for a hot oil treatment at a salon or buy the products available in the market for carrying out hot oil treatment at home, you will need to spend a lot of money. If you want to have an inexpensive hot oil treatment, make a simple natural hot oil treatment on your own. The procedure is discussed below:

To make a natural hot oil treatment on your own you will need ingredients like a resealable bag (the bag must be made of plastic), 1 tablespoon honey, 2.3 cup of sunflower oil (you can also use cold pressed olive oil instead), 2 teaspoon vitamin E oil, a bowl filled with boiling hot water, 10 drops each of geranium, sandalwood and lavender oil, a shower cap and shampoo.

Take the resealable bag and put the sunflower oil into it. Now, add the vitamin E oil, honey and the 3 essential oils (geranium, sandalwood and lavender) to it. Keep on squeezing the bag so that all the ingredients blend well with each other.

Now, take the bowl filled with boiling hot water and immerse the resealable bag into it. Wait until the bag with the oil mix in it gets warm.

Next, take out the bag and apply the oil in it all over your scalp and dry hair. Massage your scalp gently while applying the oil.

Once the application procedure is complete cover your head with the shower cap. If you don’t have a shower cap, you can use a plastic sheet for wrapping your head. Finally, cover the head using a towel soaked in hot water and squeezed well.

Wait for 15-20 minutes and wash your hair using a mild shampoo.

Although we mostly associate pimples with oily skin, individuals with dry skin might also suffer from pimples. This article will inform you about effective remedies for pimples in dry skin.

Cleanse with oil: If you have dry skin, you are most likely to be sensitive to cleansers and soaps; sensitivity of dry skin is even more towards the cleansers and soaps formulated for treating pimple-prone oily skin. So, instead of using those products use a blend of olive oil and castor oil for cleaning your face. These oils have non-comedogenic properties and they work by removing dirt, oil and impurities that are responsible for blocking the pores of our skin. The ideal proportion in which you should mix these two oils for cleaning pimple-prone dry skin is ½ teaspoon olive oil with ¼ teaspoon castor oil.

Pimples in oily skin are often treated with benzoyl peroxide. Although it yields great results for people with oily skin, the chemical can be extremely harsh of dry skinned individuals. Thus, if you have dry skin, you should avoid using medicated creams containing benzoyl peroxide. Instead use tea tree essential oil for getting relief from inflammation, irritation and pain caused by the pimples. Put 3 to 4 drops of tea tree oil on a clean cotton pad soaked in water and apply it to the affected regions of your skin.

Unlike oily skin, dry skin suffering from pimples must be moisturized regularly. Hydrating the skin properly maintains the oil balance of the skin and results in reduction in frequency of pimple breakouts. However, it is advisable that people with pimples should not use heavy moisturizers even if their skin is dry. Instead, they should apply non-comedogenic, oil-free moisturizers.

One might develop puffy eye bags due to several reasons. The most common among them is fluid buildup in the region. Factors like too much sleeping, sleep deprivation, consumption of excess salt etc can result in formation of puffy eyes temporarily. One might also have puffy eyes as a result of aging. Puffy eyes make most women look extremely unattractive, which make them look for remedies that can rid them from this beauty disaster. Below we have offered some tips that will help you in removing the puffy eye bags effectively.

Take 2 teabags and allow them to soak in cold water. After 5 minutes, take out the teabags and place them on your eyes. Wait for 15 minutes and remove the teabags. This remedy will help in constricting your blood vessels, which in turn will reduce the inflammation around your eyes. If you don’t have teabags, you can also use two slices of a cool cucumber instead; it will also yield similarly effective results.

Gently tapping the region under your eyes might help in reducing the swelling. The tapping must start from the eye’s inner corner and slowly move towards its outer corner. Use the middle finger while tapping. Tap each of your eyes for thirty seconds.

Place the middle finger on the eye’s inner corner. Now, place the forefinger on the eye’s outer corner. Apply mild pressure with both your fingers. Now, look upwards, towards the eyebrow while lifting the lower eyelid forming a squint. When in this position, you must be feeling the fluttering movements of your eye muscles under the fingers. Stay in this position for 5 seconds and relax. This eye exercise should be performed 10 times for getting rid of the puffy eye bags under your eyes.
